Step Two: Process
We are in the franchising business and because of that, are bound by the laws regarding franchising. We have spent a considerable amount of time preparing franchise agreements that are adaptable to your level of interest and geographic area. This is always the dull part of any franchise deal but we take pride in ensuring that we walk you through each and every paragraph. Because any contract is a serious document, we insist that you get the best possible advice for yourself and your business. Typically this process can take a little time but the confidence that you gain once you have gone through this goes a long way in helping you understand both sides of the business you are getting into. It really helps both parties develop a level of trust and understanding. At this point, the decision to move ahead is made and we move to the next step, which is the location.

Step Three: Location
Usually the right location is in a mall or other high foot traffic location, so once determined, and the due diligence is completed, a lease is negotiated with our assistance. As a statement of our belief in this process, we remain on the Head Lease of all Canadian properties. We will help you with both the site selection and the lease negotiation.

Step Four: Store Design
Because each space is different in terms of size and layout, a detailed draft needs to be prepared to determine the best way to utilize the available room effectively and present the business within the mall environment. Every store in our system is unique and varies in size from 350 to 1100 square feet. Some have dining rooms and some utilize the adjacent food court for seating. What this means is that each store has to retain the same overall look but be designed differently. Once approved by the mall, a complete set of plans is prepared and we assist you in selecting a contractor to build the store.

Step 5: Planning
Now that we have a good idea of what it's going to cost to build your store, we get into the details of planning. The research done on the traffic in front of the location will guide us in determining the potential sales volume of a given location. We will help you build a sales budget, which will be a guideline to you, and help you and your bankers determine what this business will generate in terms of sales and profits. Our team of support staff have been doing this for years with our own corporate bakeries, and have a great track record for planning effectively.

Step Six: Training
So we have the plan, we have moved towards the construction stage and we need to get you into a corporate training store. Our comprehensive training program takes three full weeks to complete. We place you into a bakery under the guidance of a fully qualified trainer whose job it is to prepare you to run your business using the exact same guidelines as any one of our Bakery Managers. This is a "hands on" program and requires you to be able to run the training bakery by the end of the three weeks of training. We will also teach you how to hire and train your own staff and how to run the accounting side of your business.

Step Seven: Opening
It is important to know that once training is complete we don't just send you back to your bakery without support. We will be there to ensure that the equipment and construction meet our quality control expectations and then, once an opening date is determined, we will guide you through the hiring and training of your new employees. We also follow up with a qualified trainer in your bakery for up to two weeks after you are open.

Ongoing Support
Once you are open we have an ongoing support structure which includes regular visits by one of our franchise consultants, whose focus will be to assist you in the technical and operations side of the business. The communications link with our office and the information sharing that we provide will enable us to deal with specific issues related to your results by comparing them to both our corporate and franchise parter information.
